Description
The first collection of the Sutta-piṭaka containing the long discourses of the Buddha.
A number of the suttas expound important doctrines, e.g. the Mahānidānasutta (15) and Mahāsatipaṭṭhānasutta (22). In several, the Buddha discusses the views and doctrines of the brahmanic religion and various contemporary religious schools and philosophies, e.g. the Soṇadaṇḍasutta (4) and the Sāmaññaphalasutta (2).
