Translation of Dīgha-nikāya
The first collection of the Sutta-piṭaka containing the long discourses of the Buddha. A number of the suttas expound important doctrines, e.g. the Mahānidāna-sutta (15) and Mahāsatipaṭṭhānasutta (22).
In several, the Buddha discusses the views and doctrines of the brahmanic religion and various contemporary religious schools and philosophies, e.g. the Soṇadaṇḍa-sutta (4) and the Sāmaññaphala-sutta (2).
